Lovely Life in a Hotel Room Jun 17, 2005 8:20 am
Mood: frustrated, 2313 Views
Isn't life lovely in a hotel room?

There was a 1/2 hour wait in order to get registered. No big deal. Then add the 1/2 hour that I waited to get someone's attention that my key didn't work. Oh, and the 1/2 hour to tell someone that my AC wasn't working.

In the military, we have this saying, "hurry up and wait". That seems to sum up how the military runs these days. You rush to get somewhere and then you wait 3 times as long to finally get whatever done. Well, seems the hotel has jumped on that track, too.

Oh, yeah... the AC is just PERFECT!!! I mean, who else wouldn't want to stay in an 80degree room with HUMIDITIY? I was surprised to find that even my cat was unhappy. Well, after some complaining, I was finally moved.

Of course, I didn't get any help moving my luggage and cat. Oh, wait! I did get a luggage rack... with TWO flat tires. I think I used more energy trying to push that thing around than if I had just carried the luggage myself.

So, now that the hotel knows the row of rooms on the 2nd floor are uncomfortable due to bad AC... what do they do? PUT MORE PEOPLE IN THEM!!! How stupid. So, as I'm talking to people throughout the last two days, they are telling me how terrible their room is... and I find out they are in the rooms where I was at!!!!

But, I decided it all couldn't be bad. I mean, they offer a free buffet breakfast while I'm here. So, this morning with tummy growling I go to the "restaurant"... cold eggs, burnt sausage, ONE pancake left. Well, it was free!

I love the Clarion... stained carpet and all.

I've made it!!!! Jun 14, 2005 2:04 pm

Aigo!!!!!

I drove through the WORST weather, I swear! It's like God was just taking HUGE garbage pails of water and dumping them on the windshield of my truck. The wipers weren't even doing any good.

But I made it okay. Mr Smoochers wouldn't talk to me the first night on the road. I don't blame him... he got carsick and I gave him some children's Benedril (I spelled that wrong) to put him to sleep. He hated me. But I think I'm forgiven cuz he slept with me last night.

Oh, for those of you wanting to visit San Angelo, TX... IT'S FREAKING HOT!!!!! I was sweating just carrying Mr Smoochers to our hotel room!

Well, tonight I have to do some apartment hunting... better get going.

Thanks to all ya'll (Taz, Ilsaeng, T4T) who worried.

I'm Leaving Jun 11, 2005 9:21 pm

This may (or may not) be the last post for a few days.

Tomorrow I begin my journey to a new home... San Angelo, TX. It's a 17 1/2 hour drive. I was going to do it all in one day...but I've procrastinated and now there is no way that I will get enough sleep the night before. Oh well.

Packing my belongings in my truck was very interesting. Space management was very important!!!!!! My dad had to saw the legs off of my computer desk in order to make it fit.

Well... talk to ya'll later!!!!!!!

Oooooopssss... I broke down. Jun 9, 2005 1:32 pm
Mood: guilty, 2134 Views
For those of you who read my "Give it up!" post you will understand my shame.

Today, I broke down and bought "THE SHOES". I wasn't supposed to buy "THE SHOES" because I had given them up in order to donate some food for animals at the Humane Society.

I really had good intentions to not buy "THE SHOES"....

Honestly!!!!!

Actually..... (gulp) I ended up buying "THE SHOES"... and four other pairs. A grand total of five pairs!!!! I did pretty good and got two pairs on sale! That makes up for it, right? Right?

A Day With My Mom Jun 8, 2005 3:34 pm
Mood: contemplative, 2052 Views
1. I love my mother.

2. I love my mother better from a distance.

3. The farther away from my mother, the more that I love her.

Okay, so I'm home from Korea, visiting my parents in SD before I move to Texas. Today, my mother and I went shopping, to lunch, and to a movie (Miss Congeniality 2).

Is it true that daughters are like their mothers? Please, God... NOOOOOOOO!!!!! My mother and I can never see eye-to-eye. She complained about the way people drive the whole day (good thing she didn't drive in Korea!!!) but then refused to admit that she wasn't the best driver. Drove me crazy.

Mom doesn't laugh much. I want to laugh all the time... but I grew up in a household that didn't laugh much. So, I am someone who holds it in a little. The movie was funny and I would find myself laughing. Then, realizing my mom wasn't laughing, I would stop also. Isn't that sad?

Mom criticizes me about the money I spend because I spend it freely. She thought I was crazy for spending $85 on pet food and bringing it to the Humane Society. She got mad that I spent $120 on "chrome" door handles and $400 on an Access cover for the bed of my beautiful truck. She gets angry when I tell her how much money I spent on clothes and make-up in the last two days ($502). Big deal... it's my money right? It's not like I'm charging it... it comes from my checking account.

Anyway, whenever I am around her I feel like it's not my life and I have to be careful what I say. Is this normal? When I move away (Korea, Texas, Cali, etc) we exchange emails like crazy. But we never call. If we talk on the phone, it's only 5 minutes before we've argued. ??????????????

4. I love my mother very, very much.

Give it up!!!! Jun 7, 2005 2:16 am

Yesterday I went shoe shopping.

However, before I got to the mall I saw a stray cat on the side of the road.

This resulted in a detour to the nearest Wal-Mart.

I spent the $85 designated for my new shoes on dog food, cat food, kitty food, and cat litter. Then I brought it to the humane society.

BOY! Did I feel really good about that. The humane society was in bad need of canned kitty food and litter, so it was the perfect timing.

Me... I didn't really need those shoes today. I'm sure that in a few days I will "designate" $85 towards the purchase of new shoes, AGAIN.

Luggage Update Jun 5, 2005 3:25 am
Mood: content, 1920 Views
Okay, I got my luggage. Thank goodness!!!! I wasn't looking forward to buying all new uniforms for my job.

So far, I've not done much more than sleep and watch TV. Aren't I lazy? Hehehehehe I'm actually thinking of going out for a run right now... it 5:26AM. There was one HUGE thunderstorm last night and I bet it smells absolutely delightful outside right now. I certainly love the landscape in my hometown. Trees were basically non-existant in Korean towns. But here...WOW!!! Huge trees, luscious grass... I'm happy.

Mr Smoochers has been lazy also. He's delighted to play in the grass for about 10 minutes... following the birdies around... then he just wants to sleep on the couch or bed. I envy him. Wish I could do that!! Oh! Wait... I have been doing that!

ARRRGGH! United Airlines! Jun 2, 2005 12:44 am
Mood: angry, 1742 Views
So I left my hotel in Anjeong-Ri at 4:30am to begin my travels to America.

I brought my cat, Mr Smoochers, with me, too! All he did was MEOW and MEOW on the bus ride up to Incheon Airport... I was so embarrassed. But, what can you do when you love someone? He couldn't understand what was happening, so I guess I can't be mad at him.

The flight was long... I finally reached my hometown of Sioux Falls, SD TWENTY-SEVEN AND ONE HALF HOURS ( 27 1/2 hours!!!) later!!!! I was so exhausted.

Under a new regulation, family of military members can get a special pass to meet the traveling military member at the gate of arrival... so my Mom was there to meet me!!! I missed her so much. She immediately asked, "So, was your flight uneventful?"..............

ARGH!!!! It HAD been uneventful!!!! However United Airlines has lost my MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF LUGGAGE!!!! I had my Army duffle bag FULL of military uniforms, boots, shoes, more military uniforms, etc... at least $800 worth of uniforms and stuff. AND THEY LOST IT!!! ARGH!!!

I am not happy.
