Fostering Jul 22, 2005 3:25 pm Mood: worried, 2685 Views Today I sent off a form. Not just another credit card application or a payment for my electricity or a survey of some government office. This form was an interest form for fostering and adoption. Not an application, but just a short form to get information and let the office know that I'm interested. Fostering, from what I hear from others, is difficult and challenging. I might find myself frustrated and overwhelmed with a child that has emotional problems. But when the child leaves my home, will he or she be better off? Will I have been able to give him/her guidance about life? Will I have demonstrated what love is? Will I have encouraged him/her to explore his likes and dislikes? I'm scared. Sending that form was the first step to being a parent for me. Am I ready? If I wait until I'm sure that I'm ready, will I ever be ready? 8 Comments

A New Adoption in the Family Jul 18, 2005 5:51 pm Mood: satisfied, 2435 Views Mr Smoochers has been depressed lately. So today we went to the animal shelter. Oh, I started tearing up... so many beautiful cats. I had to get special permission to adopt another kitty because my apartment complex has a 1 pet rule. But the manager knows how much Mr Smoochers means to me. His health is in jeapordy if he stays this depressed. So we looked for a new brother or sister. I asked to look at the cats that might not get adopted before their time ran out, or a "special needs kitty". They brought me an un-named cat who only had a couple of days left before she was euthanized. How sad. She wasn't being adopted becuase she was too skinny with scragly fur. Her right ear was a little mangled, too. But she was so friendly... purring the minute I picked her up! She didn't even let Mr Smoochers scare her with his hissing. (He needed to show his dominance.) So, for only $36 this beautiful cat is coming home to us tomorrow, spayed and vaccinated. Can you believe how cheap it is to find love? One problem... no name yet. Any suggestions? 7 Comments

Yes!!!!! Yes!!!!! Yes!!!!! Jul 17, 2005 3:08 pm Mood: excited, 2402 Views I can't believe it! My flight physical has been approved by the Army! This means that I am one step closer to becoming a helicopter pilot. Now how sexy is that? Me being a helicopter pilot? Hahahaha all you men eat your hearts out!!!! I didn't think my physical would get approved because I had PRK laser surgery. But they approved it. When I got the good news I broke out immediately in goosebumps. I can't believe it! Yes!!!!! Yes!!!!! Yes!!!!! Someday I'll come pick up all my KFF friends in the heli and we'll go hang out! hahaha 13 Comments

I'm thinking of buying a motorcycle! Won't that be fun? In fact, I can't wait! But I'm not going to buy one until after my motorcycle safety course at the end of August. See, I'm still waiting for my household goods to arrive from Korea. That means that I'm without a computer. Therefore, I have to use the library on-post. However, now that I'm fat, I have to use my lunch hour to go workout! Argh!!!!! And that means no computer. And I definitely don't want to do anything after work but go home. I'm usually drained. I'm fat. Jun 22, 2005 5:16 pm Mood: bitchy, 2862 Views The Army says I am fat. Now I might not get to go to the school that I need for promotion. I was supposed to leave on Saturday. Oh well. I guess I just like to eat. Actually, it's not my fault... I can't control the fact that my hips just hold everything I put into my stomach! And who wants to run? Not me!!!! Today, I did wake up at 6am and went running. Well, I did some walking and some running. I'm waaaaay out of shape. Hahahaha... I'm in the Army and supposed to be protecting all ya'll in the states... and I'm fat! sigh. But I can still out-perfom most of the men that I work with... so what if I'm a big girl?
