I love reading everyone's blogs... I am living vicariously through those of you visiting Korea for the first time. I remember so many "firsts" so vividly:
First time I was nearly killed by a scooter on the sidewalk. First time I ate kimchi. First time in a noraebang. First time on the subway. First time in a Korean taxi. First time I had soju. First time I went on a date with a Korean man. First time I went to an American movie with Korean subtitles. First time I bartered for merchandise.
Each memory is precious. Most are pleasant.. some not so pleasant. But I'm glad to have had them.

So I'm working such long days right now that I fall asleep when I get home before I can even get my uniform off. Wow!!! That means I'm exhausted!!!! I can't wait for the weekend... just so I can sleep!
Do other people have jobs that make them this tired?

So the jerk that stood me up got a 2nd chance today. However, I figured he wasn't going to make our "date". So, I wasn't here at 2pm when he was supposed to contact me.
Good thing I didn't wait around for him. When I got home at 4:30, there was a message for me at 1:54pm from him saying that he wasn't going to be able to make. What a jerk!
I sent him an email telling him that he shouldn't make plans if he doesn't want to commit to those plans. He had the nerve to be upset at me. He didn't even know that I wasn't here... until I told him. So, now he knows what it feels like!
He didn't even offer an apology. Geesh. The nerve of some people. I have better things to do than waste time out of my life on a good-for-nothing.

Can Someone Please Explain This....

I can't understand the reasoning behind this situation:
Okay, I met a guy. We were supposed to go for a ride on our motorcycles today at noon. We made plans two days ago. Last night I left a voice message for him asking if we could go alittle bit earlier than we had planned. No return call. Then this morning... nothing. Noon (our meeting time) rolls around and still no call. I can't understand what goes through someone's mind when they choose not to call and cancel.
I mean, I'd be a LOT less angry if he'd have called even 1/2 hour before our meeting time to tell me he couldn't make it. By just blowing me off, that shows he has no regard for anyone but himself... and that he's a coward. Isn't it easier to cancel and still have a friend than to not say anything and loose one?

Near-Death Experience

I love adventure. And I love an adrenaline rush. However, white-water rafting in Jamiaca was just too close to death for me. First of all, the water levels were too low. The rafts would catch on the rocks while going through rapids and overturn. Or just tip, knocking people out of the raft. I was one of them. Most people would get washed out of the rapids and pop up out of the water at the bottom.
NOT ME! Oh no! I just had to get pushed under the current. With the water rushing so fast, there wasn't any possible way for me to surface. And then, the raft caught between two rocks. The current pulled me there, too. And wouldn't you know what happened next?
I got caught stuck underneath the raft!!!!!! Believe it or not, I was worried. By now I've already held my breath longer than I ever have in my life. I've never actually thought I would die before...ever... until that moment. I started pounding on the bottom of the raft.
Finally, I somehow got dislodged half-way from under the raft and my arms popped out of the water. I heard the guide yelling, "Where is she? I can't find her!!" And then my mom yells out this eerie scream, "TIA!!!!" (my name)
The guide saw my arms and pulled me up. I have to say that I have never been so scared in my life. I remember each and every moment underneath the water. Hearing the worry when the guide yelled made me realize that I was in danger. Hearing the fear in my mother's voice made me realize that it was real.
Another woman broke her leg during the same rafting experience. The guides had no plans for an emergency. There was no way for any medical assistance to get to the boats except for us to continue downstream. Definitely scary. One man's boat overturned, and he was separated from his wife. Seeing what had happened with me, he worried that she had drowned (she was washed around a bend)
I'm not a beginner by far to swimming or to rafting. But this was definitely not a good experience. In fact, I think I'm done white-water rafting. The adrenaline rush was exciting, but I just don't know how much more exciting than nearly dying I want to get.

Well, I am not going on a cruise with my mom again... we have different ideas of what fun is. However, I did enjoy myself for the most part. Spent alot of money.
And we didn't get to go into Cozumel because of the tropical storm. I was soooo disappointed!!! That is where I was going to do all of my shopping. Oh well... maybe next time.

Veteran's Day

Today is Veteran's Day in America. It's a day to reflect on the reason America is what it is... so thank a military veteran or servicemember. I really enjoy talking with Korean War and Vietnam War veterans. They like to talk about their experiences, too (well, not always the tough stories, like loosing buddies in combat). But by speaking with someone who has put his/her life in harm's way to defend or protect things that are good in this world, one can really learn to appreciate the freedoms one has even more. God Bless America!

Yeah! Only 3 more days until my cruise begins. I'm pretty excited. A little disappointed that I didn't loose any weight, but oh well. I'm still going to go scuba diving. I'm still going to relax. My mom is coming down on Saturday and then we drive to Galviston, TX for our cruise departure. Hopefully we can get through the week without arguing.
