Friends: Part I--Disappearing Acts... Sep 12, 2008 12:52 am
Mood: sad, 2516 Views
Recently one of my closest friend moved to NYC from Los Angeles without apparent reason. She didn’t meet her “soul mate”, she didn’t have any better paying or more prestigious job waiting, and she didn’t have any families out there. She just quit her job one day and moved. I really admire for her courage and bravery. To begin a new life starting from scratch when one already seems to have everything well established is not for everyone, nor even for majority of us.

Oops I digressed. My point was to write about how sad I’m to “lose” such good friend because. Already most of my closest friends are not in Los Angeles thus it makes harder for me to see them and hang out as we once used to regularly. Couple years ago one of my best friend moved away to San Antonio because of her job. I remember actually encouraging her to take a position since it was a good one but I do dearly miss her presence. I’m thankful that I get to see her on regular basis since all her immediate family lives in LA, well not to mention her younger sister is my roommate.

Oops I digressed again somewhat. Yesterday, I’ve just found out my other best friend, probably the closest of them all, is moving to Miami, aka “ land of hurricanes”. I’ve grown up with her since junior high and have known her for more than 25 years. Wow, I feel old. Her news was a total shock for me, more so than others. And my heart is heavy with sadness.
I guess I will just look it as an opportunity for me to travel more.

FINALLY... Apr 30, 2008 7:10 am
Mood: ecstatic, 3004 Views
finally, i've "reunited" with my friend whom i haven't had contact for two years or so...

i thought we lost contact because he was mad at me for some reason whereas he thought i was mad at him...funny how DIFFERENT our memories are...

we tried catching up with our lives at a near by pho restaurant...
unfortunately even though they were kind to let us in to eat at the same time, they pretty much kicked us out since they close at 9pm...wow, so early!!!

we came back to my place and did more catching up...
we talked about all the things we used to do together, i.e. going to library in little tokyo, cooking, doing sudo-ku, knitting (he even knits!), driving around, more importantly just hanging out...weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee i'm a happy camper!!!

he's already taught me the correct way to grow basil and we stole some sweet basil leaves (from the pho rest) to plant too...

Film-ee kkeun ki-da (Blackout) PARTII Apr 30, 2008 6:31 am
Mood: still hung over, 3447 Views
Wow, for the first time in my life, I got so drunk that I’ve experienced what is called “film-ee kkeun ki-da”(black out). Although I’ve witnessed many others and heard about it all the time, I’ve never expected it to happen to me. Oh well, I should think “positive” and say “hey, there’s always first time”. NOT!!! Blacking out because you’re drunk is not something that you need to apply “there’s always first time” as far as I’m concerned. At least it felt nice that someone (actually more than one person) held my hands and guided me. Dang, I need to find other means of holding some guy’s or girl's hand.

KFF Times: Opinion

What is the world turning into?!?!?!
As I wait for my yogurt at Pinkberry, although I'd personally prefer some latte myself. I come across some disheveled woman who barely seems to walk. It was a very unsightly scene.
I believe this woman was in her mid to late 30s, what one would label as another ajumma. She was very “tong-tong” with short hair that was bit unusual in K-town. As I watch her rushing zigzagging towards the public restroom, I witness something I wished I hadn’t at that moment. It was just like something that I’ve only seen on K-dramas as an eyesore.

Apparently she couldn’t wait for her friend to bring the restroom key and up-chucks right in front of my horror filled eyes and her friend next to her. Ackkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk, there goes my yogurt.

OMG, that’s me!!!!

advise: do NOT drink and drive

Today... Mar 30, 2008 12:47 am
Mood: ecstatic, 3613 Views

i went to home depot with a friend...
i was so happy that i was able to buy many different small indoor house plants, ranging from sansaverias (snake plant) to dracaenas...
i was telling him how some plants such mentioned above are very good in the household environment, absorbing bad stuff in the air to giving out positive ions, etc...
and his response was like, "you mean talking to the plants?" and so i say, "yes, don't you think it's better to talk to the plants than to the wall?" lol

i can't wait for them to grow and get really bigggggggggggggggggggg!!!

i also bought some herbs that hopefully my friend can help me make a small "herb garden" so i can use them for cooking... yay yay yay...
i guess no more lattes for a month...haha

if i only didn't drop my phone to...*ung ung*

Korean Coffee Houses(KCH) vs. American Coffee Houses(ACH) Mar 27, 2008 1:24 am
Mood: amused, 3334 Views

This is an observation made by my non-Korean friend who is familiar with both Korean and American Coffee Houses…

First of all, these coffee houses are in la vicinity and American Coffee Houses ranges from Starbucks, pricey, to hole in the walls, etc…

warning: this is an observation of two women, no one but of two women...

KCH: all valet, usually ending with 50cents but expecting a rounded off value
ACH: various

KCH: rarely no lap tops
ACH: mostly lap tops

KCH: everyone are talking to one another
ACH: well, computer screen… =)

KCH: in groups, usually 3 or more…
ACH: individuals (by themselves)

KCH: indoor=smoking outdoor patio=smoking

ACH: indoor=no smoking outdoor patio=no smoking (not all of
course)

KCH: K-town girls (in honor of sweetpepe) with big name brand wallets and purses, actually (most k-town guys SEEM to have Louis Vuitton wallet)
ACH: various

KCH: one person pays all
ACH: dutch (wait, they come by themselves...lol)

warning: this is an observation of two women, no one but two women...

oh and i have to put this in, in honor of sweetpepe's k-town scene...
just discovered that the korean bar across from the coffee shop is a room salon according to the valets...

Would definitely like to know what you observe around the coffee(tea) houses that you frequent !!!
