Chase Bank's incompetence or a rip-off scam? May 21, 2005 9:59 am
Mood: angry, 2106 Views
Has anyone else had any problems with Chase Mortgage company? They have done a few things in the past that resulted in my having to pay late-fees I would not have - of course, it seems to take them a few months to clear anything up ( few months more of headaches and having to check up on whether they actually updated my account or not).

In order to avoid being victimized further, I signed up with their new "Chase Bill Pay" center, which was heavily advertised in the chase web sites to enable me to "Never Be Late" on my payments again. I set up the accounts at the end of April and scheduled a payment to be made to my mortgage on May 1. I received an email confirmation in May 2, saying that the mortgage payment was sent. I find out on May 21 that the money is still sitting in my checking acct. I log into chase to find they socked me with another un-warranted late fee of $50+ on May 15. I call their "Chase Pay" customer service - I realize fairly early on in conversation that the person I am speaking to is not even in this country, and their explanation of events make no sense. She claims that because I provided a PO box as the payment address that they were forced to create a paper check and mail it in. Apparently, "Chase Bill Pay" is not really "Chase" at all. I suspect that Chase outsourced the work to another (probably a foreign)company that has absolutely no access to chase account information. I believe this is downright fraudulent - I signed with the service because I was told it would expedite payment. Instead, Chase has apparently not received the paper check they wrote to themselves on my behalf 3 weeks ago!

The customer service woman now suggests that I stop payment on the check they created for me! Yeah right! Make me pay $30 more for stopping payment on a check that they created and failed to process.

Does anyone know a good place to file complaints for these?

In the past, Chase Mortgage has actually cashed my checks and sat on the money ( while not crediting my account) while sticking the late-fee on me. They claimed they didn't know what the money was for! Hello!!!! I only have one chase loan!!!

I am seriously considering filing a suit in a small claims court - just so they won't take months to clean up my account.

There is a good-sized group of people who get together to eat and hang on a fairly regular basis. We will be having another GTG on the weekend of May 27-29. We are planning on having a BBQ on the Sunday before meorial day. TurtlesNTennis is the contact person for the who/when/where/how. She can usually be found in the chatroom - if you don't see her there, ask the others in there about having her contact you

How to make the potato banchan - like they give you in K restaurants? May 6, 2005 4:44 pm

Okay - I have had a really tough time reproducing the potato side dish they serve in every K restaurant. You know, potato wedges with one token carrot wedge - flavored with sesame seed oil, soy sauce, sugar, and possibly some garlic powder.

I am thinking you have to slightly boil the potato and then "jo-Ryuh" it in the seasoning and oil for a while. this has not been coming out like it is supposed to. Ends up either undercooked or too mushy, and the shiny gloss is not there.

I have asked many people who are excellent cooks, and the people I have asked have all told me they had the same disastrous results as me.

WHAT'S THE SECRET???!!!!(( Pleeeeeeease, won't someone tell me?

An Update on a KFF marriage - two friends of mine May 2, 2005 8:08 pm
Mood: amused, 1833 Views
A little over a year ago, a friend of mine from Chicago wanted me to search KFF for a potential mate for her. Since I had a paid membership and she did not ( and so she could not view profiles), I had to look through the hundreds of search results and email her copies of the ones I thought she may be interested in.

She had me email one of these guys for her - she asked me to send KFF email giving the guy her yahoo email and to ask him to look at her profile and contact her.

Now - these are two very attractive people - neither one had ever had trouble finding dates. They just had trouble finding someone they wanted to marry.

Well, they had email contact in February, met each other in Vegas soon thereafter, got engaged by late March, and married on 5-15-2004. They had a lovely wedding, but I was of course very worried that the two people I hooked up were jumping into something so serious so fast.

It has been almost a year now since their wedding, and they tell me they are both very happy together (phew )

Apparently, these things CAN work out.

Oh by the way, my future hubby and I also met in person for the first time in Vegas, last summer. Just what is it about that place anyhow?? LOL

You are seeing a phantom pic in my profile Apr 27, 2005 10:16 pm
Mood: confused, 1250 Views
Wow

I have to give it to KFF - just when I think I know all the quirks and idiosyncrasies, I discover a new one.

I recently discovered that googling my handle returns my KFF profile as the second search result. Apparently, KFF has versions of our profiles where the main pic and minimal info are viewable to the entire world. They place question marks over the personal stats in an attempt to make people join in order to read them.

I was not too happy that random people might come across my profile, so I moved my pics to my network album and deleted all photos from my profile.

Some of you may have noticed that my profile still displays my main pic. I seem unable to get rid of it - when I enter the "edit photos" mode there are no profile pics to delete anymore (I deleted them a couple of days ago). With nothing left to delete, I seem unable to get rid of this stupid profile pic that hangs around

My BF was recently able to delete all his profile pics successfully, so I know this cannot be a general problem in KFF...I guess when I get over being lazy about this I will have to complain to the powers that be here

scared myself silly Apr 22, 2005 11:01 pm
Mood: bored, 1361 Views

I scared myself silly this week watching the DVD "America's Most Haunted Inns". It wasn't really the documentary (most people will find it not scary at all), but rather the topic of ghosts and the fact that i was watching it by myself at midnight in an empty house that was making all kinds of creaking noises.

By the way, have any of you seen anything you think may have been a ghost?
