Am happy to say that I took the initiative and made a bold play with the girl I have been seeing socially for the last few weeks to take things to the next level 
After receiving an invite from my ex (who's in Malaysia) to try and re-ignite the fire and try again, I felt it necessary to prove to myself that I wasn't on the rebound and that I had future aspirations for my new GF; and so I told her everything and laid my cards out on the table /:>
The result was a lovely and intimate night of shared perspectives and emotions in which I was able to give my new GF (as well as myself) the assurance she needed to see that I was sincere and that I wanted us to work on become closer and having a more meaningful relationship in future 
We finished the night saying farewell with our first proper kiss, and it was really nice  It felt great knowing that I was totally being myself and being honest and connecting with someone special like that 
It's the best possible way to spend a Friday night and I highly recommend it
