I will always remember going to my second cousin's marriage about 2 years ago and the husband and wife gave a short speech at the reception and used the well worn phrase that: "Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction." Antoine De Saint-Exupery ...now while that might sound insightful, I have actually heard it about a million times everywhere from television to movies to magazines and it was rather (in my opinion) uninspiring and dull for someone to spout a well-worn cliche in theri wedding speech. My English teacher told me it is the easiest way to put your listener or reader to sleep, to give them a cliche.
