A new companion?

A red fish (now dead) LOL and some green plants aren't the best companions for a single guy... As i wrote previously i was looking to adopt a dog and... just got a call from friends who have a young Beagle in need of a new home. Look at the pic, this dog look so nice... but i have second thoughts. Would i have enough time for a young dog, what would happen if i'm gone for a full day... aish. I had already a name for him. French, Cute Dog. A young puppy takes a lot of time. There are a lot of adoption or 'rescue' websites for dogs. They are usually categorized by breeds. I adopted my Korean Jindo 'Aero' from an adoption website. I have also dealt with the So Cal Labrador Retriever Rescue (SCLRR). Adoption dogs are always fixed. Either spayed or neutered. It's one of the conditions of the adoption. But you can find an older dog that has been trained on these websites. Aero was already housetrained and knew basic commmands like sit and stay. Made things a lot easier. Go online and check it out. MK ps. If you want help setting up and aquarium, let me know. I used to be a mobile aquarium tech.

ahhh cute puppy. yes it is alot of work but sooooo worth it since they give you unconditional love. congrats FG!!! and elmo is such a cute name!!!

Frenchy ... aww ... so cute! I love dogs, but don't like to pick up poop. lol Elmo is a good name, but please do think long and hard before you make your final call.

Hey Mad, Yup... i would go to an animal shelter if this dog wasn't offer to me. It seems that this dog would end in a shelter if anybody take him to a new home... Concerning fish. When young, i was the proud "owner" of a 72 gallons aquarium (freshwater)... i miss that. Take care

FG, If you ever want to travel (ie; visiting your native country) you will have to get a pet-sitter or have him stay at a pet hotel. The dog cannot be left alone. A cat or cats, on the other hand, can stand being by themselves as long as they have enough food and water. I have been away from them for at least 3 weeks at a time, and they were fine when I got back. They do drink a lot of water though.

Binti, I'm sure you do like your cats.. And yes, i've cried so much when my first dog died. A pet -especially dog/cat- is a family member. I would have adopt one of your cats but... dogs have my preference. Have a beautiful day
