Good for you, Angel. When I started going to Korea on business trips a few years ago, I made it a point to travel using the metro system. I did not want to take cabs because (1) cabs are slower than metro, especially during rush hour, (2) cabs are much more expensive than metro, and (3) taking the metro is the best way to get a feel of the country and how people behave. I do remember one hot, sticky July day. I checked out of the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Gangnam and needed to go to the Seoul Train Station, with all my baggage. I got in a cab. It took 30 minutes to travel 1 block in Gangnam. I got out of the cab with all my bags, and walked to Non-Hyun station. They did not have elevators, and as I recall, not an escalator either. I had to drag my bags down the steps. I was covered in sweat by the time I got in a train. So, the metro system is very good if you are traveling light. But if you have baggage, it is very tough.
