Upgrade??? Too high tech???

I’ve been staying at my friend’s house…
This is my second week and my stay will end soon…

Maybe it’s me or maybe it’s a guy thing…
Everything at his place is so high tech that i have been having problem using any of the simple necessities in his place…
Granted, trying to adjust and to use someone else’s things are never easy especially when my friend is out of country…

Here are some examples…
He has this high-tech sensor device trashcan that suppose to open if you’re around…
The problem is that the freakin trash can opens every time I walk by to get something from the refrigerator but doesn’t want to open it when I’m actually standing in front of the trash can to throw something away, like a banana peel…
So what do I??? I walk around and take the long way…well at least I’m walking 10 more steps instead of 2 steps…hehe
Those steps can add up you know, especially you’re constantly opening the fridge door…haha

I think it took me couple days to finally figure out how to use his another high-tech coffee maker…whatever happened to regular drip or french press???

Oh I don’t even think I should get into tv and his cable system…
I know as a fact that I screwed up his pre-programmed tv shows attempting to turn on the tv and trying to watch something through cable…hopefully he won't kill me with one of his other high tech gadgets...
Actually that was good since I didn’t even bother with the tv till the second week and I really didn’t need tv…

I’m what you call “technically challenged” woman…but all I need is someone to show me HOW to use it…I don’t mind learning it on my own by my mistakes but not at my friend’s expense such as screwing up his pre-programmed shows…

I think I definitely like simpler things in life…
Ahhhhhh those good old daysssssssssssssssssssssss
Simpler the better, not too much choices and not too much confusion…

Sabine, I couldn't agree with you more.
Too many people are depending on GPS tracker, navigaor, new computer software.... that we lived just fine without just 10 years ago..
I'm sure they provide convienience but....
Just like what you said, ' what happened to good old days...?'

Trash can that opens on a sensor? What the heck do you need that for? Talk about overdoing the laziness...If you ever happen to stay at my place, sabeeneh, don't worry about figuring out how to use my high-tech coffee maker since I don't drink coffee and won't have a coffee maker.
