Tonight I had dinner with one of my girl friends...Our conversations ranged from family, work, hobbies, and guys and gay guys…

We talked about patterns and type of guys one tends to date, if any…Along the conversation, the word “available” and "unavailable" came up…
There seem to be two types of guys who are not “available”: guys who might be successful with their career with financial stability OR guys who are available physically, meaning, they have time to spend with you but too broke to do anything…I guess what we really want is little bit of both, you know the word, “moderation”…

I was telling her that I didn’t mind dating guys who were broke, car less(yes in los angeles…lol), and/or with dead end jobs when I was in twenties, not even early thirties since I always emphasized about their personality, character, etc…but as I’m approaching my 40s, I do not want to date guys who seem to be “struggling” still…guys who are in 30s plus who are going through “changes in life”…

just a thought...

Hey there....I like the new hairstyle you have!.....Very modern...

Yes, it is probably better to date a guy who is about the "same situation" as you , financially......maybe if they are still 'struggling' at their late 30s, it sends a sign they don't have great control of their spending, finances, or a suitable job.....or maybe, they had it all together, but got 'taken to the cleaners' at the end of their marriage/relationship..i.e: property division etc.....? In which case, they are maybe naive, too generous, or 'didn't see it coming'....?? Or, really really charitable??
I think it is important to not have any financial problems and issues of no trust in a new (or any) relationship....especially after being financially independent for a long time, it would cause much stress, maybe, if their attitudes to 'make it, save it, spend it' varied largely from yours....
Also , if the guy is really rich, then we get told we're ' Gold Diggers', so I think I will look for the middle ground....Someone who is financialy astute and 'comfortable'
...
Take care, and all the best!

Hello Sabeene,
