My dad wanted to buy me lunch.

There was a time when my dad always paid for lunch, well into my thirties. But at some point, probably when I got a real job, I began to pay for all of our meals together.

He was happy today. A seminary student had e-mailed him and wanted to know if he could look upon my dad as his mentor. This was all it took to make him happy, at least happy enough to buy me lunch.

We all need mentors. I have a mentor professionally as well as personally. Even if I were 80 years old, I know I would still need a mentor.

Find a mentor. Learn the philosophy of living from your mentor, and share your life with him. The enrichment is effortless and yet so powerful – both ways.

I have a mentor at work, I threated to punch him on his face and fight him. No joke, of course there's a long story leading up to the event.

Acon...absolutely!! I too have had many mentors and as I get older and wiser I seem to have many more mentors and they seem to change all the time. My best mentor these days are my kids...Yes...only 11 and 13 year olds but they teach me what life is all about.

ax - thanks. I know I learn a great deal from my kids. Sometimes, they surpass me in understanding others.

It is important to learn lessons from those around us - to be open to their experience... I've never claimed formal mentors, but I have friends who have opened little slices of the world for me, and I value that a great deal. *s*

Nice to see you again. -bb
